Education & Teaching
RockMundo supports several ways to improve a character, from regular practice and short-form online learning to formal university study. The latest education balance makes institutions meaningfully different: university quality, prestige, course duration, tuition and XP can all vary.

In brief
Use practice for flexible development, YouTube for quick targeted learning, and university when a structured course is worth the larger time and money commitment. Do not compare universities by name alone: quality and prestige now directly shape the value and cost of study.
Ways to learn
Practice
Flexible, repeatable development closely connected to the skills and songs you actually use. Optional mini-games can add hands-on feedback without replacing normal progression.
YouTube learning
Short-form learning is useful when you want targeted progress without a long course commitment. Filters help narrow the catalogue by the skill you want to develop.
Subscriptions
Subscribe to useful learning channels so the material relevant to your current development is easier to find again instead of repeatedly searching the full catalogue.
University
Formal study can provide stronger structured progression, but institutions and courses now differ in XP, cost and time commitment.
University quality and prestige
Every university now has separate quality and prestige ratings. They are related but not interchangeable.
| Rating | What it means to a player |
|---|---|
| Quality | The stronger learning signal. Higher quality improves the value of study and can shorten the effective course duration. |
| Prestige | Represents reputation and standing. Prestige contributes to learning value but can also make tuition more expensive. |
| Institution & course | Different universities and courses can have their own base prices, lengths and XP, so two similar-looking options may not be equivalent. |
Courses have different costs, lengths and XP
Courses are deliberately no longer flat copies of one another. A more expensive or higher-quality institution can offer better learning value, while a lower-cost option may fit a touring musician's finances or schedule better.
- Pick the actual skill you need. Start from your role and current plans.
- Compare institutions. Look at quality and prestige, not only the university name.
- Compare the course. Check tuition, duration and the amount of progression it offers.
- Check location and clashes. A good course still has to fit around travel, gigs, rehearsals and work.
- Commit only when it still makes sense. University is a planned investment rather than a passive background bonus.
Dropping out
If your plans change, an active university course no longer has to trap your character until the scheduled end. The course view provides a dropout action so you can leave the course and free your future schedule.
Teaching and learning with other players

Where a teaching route is available, relevant expertise and player availability matter. Bandmates can also learn around one another through shared practice and activity. A strong band does not need every member to learn everything; complementary specialists are often more useful.
